Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior official commented the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
