New York Attorney General Confronts Criminal Financial Fraud Indictment

A national judicial panel has indicted the New York attorney general for financial misconduct this past Thursday, as stated by someone with knowledge of the case.

Lindsey Halligan handled the presentation of the charges to the grand jury on Thursday, as reported.

US attorneys seldom address a grand jury.

Halligan took over in the role the previous month after the president grew impatient over the speed in ongoing probes involving adversaries.

This step is the president’s latest effort to weaponize the Department of Justice to penalize political rivals.

It comes a fortnight after Halligan secured charges targeting the former FBI director.

Long-serving lawyers drafted a memorandum for that matter detailing why charges were not warranted.

Comey entered a not guilty plea on Wednesday.
