This represents the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise. Exploring the New Story Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the previous films in the series. The Plot and New Cast The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games. The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in important characters: Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee. Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow. What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule Separately, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Regarding the shoot: Principal photography started in the summer of 2025.
