Evening Hosts Take Shots at Trump’s Defamation Moves and Right-Wing Rhetoric

On his Tuesday show, the late-night comedian commented on former President Donald Trump’s high-profile defamation filing against the publication for a massive amount.

“Where does he even invent that amount?” he joked. “It’s like something children say when they talk about wealth.”

Kimmel further highlighted the irony in taking legal action against a newspaper Trump has repeatedly insisted is “failing.”

The host predicted that the case will probably be dismissed, adding that the document itself reads like “a real self-congratulatory list” of the president’s media cameos.

Exploiting on Tragedy

At the same time, the late-night host shifted the focus to the way certain conservative figures are responding to the death of podcaster the activist.

He specifically highlighted statements by a political figure, who alleged without proof that “most of the lunatics in American society now are proud members of the left-wing.”

“When he says ‘data-driven truth’, Vance means ‘complete bullshit’,” the host retorted.

Kimmel further referenced the taking down of a Department of Justice study that had shown conservative extremism as the number one source of extremist violence in the United States.

Colbert Mocks Trump’s British Visit

On his program, the CBS host celebrated the show’s first award win then turning to the president’s current trip to the UK.

Colbert commented that the president was keeping a unusually low profile visit, avoiding large-scale speeches and staying largely within the royal residence.

Protesters, however, managed to make their presence felt by revealing a giant banner with an past image of the president with Epstein.

“What are they going to do with it once the trip is done?” the host quipped. “Maybe ‘Kids, we have a donation parachute for today’s class.’”

Seth Meyers on the President’s Business Deals

The NBC host discussed a New York Times story that detailed the way the Trump family reportedly earned around a huge sum through cryptocurrency transactions with the UAE.

As part of the deal, the UAE authorities gained entry to cutting-edge AI chips.

“This is obviously unethical,” he said, mocking the president’s tendency to pivot to rave about the new White House event space when asked about controversial matters.

The host also ridiculed the president for warning an foreign reporter that he would tell on the journalist to the Australian prime minister.

“That’s such a tattletale,” he laughed. “Does he think he can intimidate an Australian? People there live with spiders the size of dinner plates.”

Although the headlines, Meyers noted that the president’s approval rating are at an historic low, suggesting that the majority of Americans do not backing his actions.
